“Show some respect” Arne Slot hit back at NUFC fans for Alexander Isak woes

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has launched a fierce defence of Alexander Isak, condemning sections of Newcastle United supporters for what he described as “inhumane and sycophantic behaviour” following the striker’s recent injury setback.

Speaking in a heated interview, Slot did not hold back as he reacted to online comments and public remarks allegedly aimed at Isak after his move away from St James’ Park.

“When a player leaves your club, the least you can do is remain silent,” Slot said.
“You don’t go around saying bad things about someone who gave you his best years, his goals, his commitment.”

The Liverpool boss stressed that football loyalty should not end the moment a transfer happens, reminding fans that players are human beings first before professionals.

Slot went further, suggesting that words carry consequences, especially during moments of vulnerability.

“There is power in the tongue,” he added. “When a player is injured, when he is already going through pain, that is not the time to mock or celebrate misfortune.”

Isak, who was a fan favourite during his time at Newcastle, has faced criticism and harsh reactions since departing the club, with plenty of the fans questioning his loyalty. Slot described such behaviour as disappointing and damaging to the image of football culture.

“Football should have rivalry, passion, even disagreement — but never a lack of humanity,” Slot concluded.
