Oxford United striker Will Lankshear has spoken out on his future at the club as the January transfer window commences.
The Tottenham Hotspur loanee scored the U’s only goal in a 2-1 defeat away at Ipswich Town on New Year’s Day and is the club’s top scorer so far this season with six goals.
After impressing so far in yellow both on the pitch and his attitude off it, Lankshear addressed a possible recall to his parent club after the loss at Portman Road.
“I’ve heard nothing but all I can say is I’m fully committed to the cause,” the 20-year-old revealed to BBC Radio Oxford.
“I love this club and I want to get out of this position that we’re in and I want to be a player that can do that.
“I think what the club have done with me is remarkable, really. I didn’t expect to play this many games and this many minutes but I’m loving it here. I’m fully committed to the cause.
“When I signed the contract, I knew exactly what I was signing up to and I relish it. I relish the challenge and I’d love to be here but, ultimately, it’s probably not my decision.”
Oxford find themselves in the heat of a relegation battle at the midway point of the season which is new territory for Lankshear.
This is his second loan from Spurs, spending the second half of last season at West Bromwich Albion.
“It’s really motivational to me as a young player coming in on loan; this experience is massive for me,” the striker continued.
“I do look around the changing room and see strong characters. I see strong mindsets, and I want to be one as well.
“I really care; I really care for the club and I really care that we do stay up.

“I want to be a role model as well. It doesn’t just take the strong characters in the dressing room; it takes absolutely everyone to win a game.”
Lankshear addressed the performance in Suffolk, acknowledging the difficulty but praising his current side.
“I think we can be pleased with the mentality. I think we showed a good attitude and there were a lot of positives within the game.

“We’ve not lost hope and I think you can definitely see that in the way we’re playing.
“I’ve been in changing rooms where people can be feeling sorry for themselves, and this changing room is definitely not one.
“We’ve got such a good group; an honest, hard-working group and that’s really spurred me on.”
