“Well-considered decision” – Player asked about rejecting Millwall and Leicester City
Millwall FC and Leicester City were among the clubs who showed interest in Jusef Erabi before he left Hammarby for KRC Genk earlier this month.
Millwall and Leicester reportedly made attempts to bring the 22-year-old to the UK and on August 29th, we covered claims from Sweden that the Lions had reached an agreement with Hammarby for a reported fee of €5m.
The Championship duo lost the battle as the striker ended up at the Belgian club, a day after the transfer window in the UK closed.
Friday’s edition of Het Belang van Limburg have published an interview with the new Genk signing where they also discuss about Millwall and the Foxes.

Friday’s edition of Het Belang van Limburg have published an interview with the new Genk signing where they also discuss about Millwall and the Foxes.
The newspaper directly asked the Swede how difficult it was for him was to pick between the Belgian club and the Championship, where Millwall and Leicester had shown interest.
“I took the time, along with my family and entourage, to make a well-considered decision,” he said.
Erabi explained the role played by Genk technical director Dimitri de Condé and manager Thorsten Fink in convincing him to pick their side over the English clubs and he’s pleased with his final decision.
“The conversations with technical director Dimitri de Condé and coach Thorsten Fink ultimately convinced me,” Erabi explained.
“And after just over a week, I can already say that I’m happy with my choice. I’ve joined a fantastic group of players here. I was accepted immediately. There’s fun in the dressing room, but also hard work on the pitch. The level is high; I already feel that I’ll make progress here.”
