BREAKING: Oxford United are delighted to announce the signing of midfield star after stunning trial performance
Oxford United are delighted to announce the signing of talented young midfielder Kaya Halil, following a highly impressive trial period with the club.
The 19-year-old joins the U’s as part of the Under-21s squad, strengthening a group that has already made a positive start to the 2025/26 campaign. With two wins and a draw from their opening three fixtures in the Central League, the addition of Kaya is expected to further enhance the squad’s creativity, depth, and competition for places.
Kaya arrives at Oxford United with an encouraging footballing background. Having previously been on the books at both Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford, he has gained valuable experience in elite youth environments. Now, he sees his move to Oxford as the perfect next step in his development, with the ambition of progressing toward First Team football.
Speaking after signing, Kaya expressed his excitement at joining the club and settling quickly into life at the Oxford Sports Park.
He said:
“The boys have been very good to me. From the first day, they welcomed me and made me feel part of the team. I’m a creative player who will excite and give my all. I hope to get in and around the First Team, impress, and do all I can.”
A dynamic and attack-minded midfielder, Kaya is known for his ability to pick out passes, drive forward with the ball, and create moments of quality in the final third. His skillset complements the club’s ambition to nurture young players capable of stepping up to senior level.
Oxford United Head of Football Development, Stevie Kinniburgh, spoke highly of the new signing and praised the attitude Kaya has shown during his time on trial.
Kinniburgh said:
“We are delighted to announce the signing of Kaya Halil. Since arriving, Kaya has impressed us with his attitude and his performances, and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can achieve in an Oxford United shirt.”
As the Under-21s continue their unbeaten run, the coaching staff believe Kaya can play an important role in maintaining the momentum while developing his potential within a competitive and supportive environment. His arrival is part of the club’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the pathway for young players and ensuring a strong future for Oxford United.
With his talent, determination, and eagerness to progress, Kaya Halil begins his journey with the U’s hopeful of making a significant impact—both now in the Under-21s and, in time, within the First Team setup.
