Coventry City transfer news from CoventryLive as reports from Europe claim the Sky Blues have landed their first signing of the summer
Coventry City are claimed to have “completed” the signing of Spanish defender Miguel Ángel Brau who, it was reported recently, will join the club at the end of June.
According to Spanish social media outlet solofichajes123, which has over 75k followers on X, the 23-year-old has rejected a new contract at his club Granada CF, who play in LaLiga2, paving the way for a free transfer move to the CBS Arena this summer.
And now European sports journalist Matte Moretto, who specialises in transfers and has 368.5k followers on X, says: “ Coventry City has completed the signing of Miguel Ángel Brau from Granada.”
Any formal completion of a deal with the Sky Blues would have had to have been done in the last ten days, prior to Tuesday night’s 7pm deadline for the first ‘mini’ transfer window of the closed season. The window is currently closed again until Monday when it reopens for business until Monday, September 1 at 7pm.
City’s main full-back priority is on the right due to the fact that Milan van Ewijk is the club’s only specialised defender in that role and has been virtually ever-present through the season.
Jay Dasilva ended the season as the man in possession of the shirt on the left where he enjoyed his best form in his two years at the club, where he has another two years left on his contract.
Friendly rival Jake Bidwell, meanwhile, was handed a new contract extension by Frank Lampard in January, also taking him to the summer of 2027.
The arrival of a new left-back would appear to indicate that one of the other two left-backs is likely to be seen as surplus to requirements and made available for transfer, albeit the club would not be able to force either of them out.
