ALEX Neil hopes Aidomo Emakhu can build momentum after scoring his first goal in over two years against Hull City.
Emakhu, 22, pulled one back shortly after Femi Azeez was sent off, with the Lions 2-0 down. He latched onto Alfie Doughty’s through ball and finished into the far corner.
The Irish winger’s previous goal was a late consolation against Norwich City on August 20, 2023.
In the three years Emakhu has been a Lion, he has recorded six goals and assists in 66 appearances, 21 of which were starts.
Neil praised his finish after the game, which ended 3-1.
“The simple fact is, and I can say the same about Femi on the other side, you’re judged by numbers when you’re a forward player,” Neil said. “That’s the simple fact of the matter when you’re in football. Goals and assists.
“Aidomo, for what he’s got, hasn’t had enough goals and hasn’t had enough assists.
“I was delighted for him today that he got his goal, because he’s been in that position repeatedly.
“More importantly, in training, he is one of the best finishers we’ve got in terms of cutting inside and putting it in his right foot. He’s brilliant at it. He just needs to get a bit of rhythm in game time and do it when it matters for us.
