Rangers Announce ANOTHER Transfer Agreement as Norwegian star lands Permanent Ibrox Move after Derek McInnes Joined the club as New Manager
Behind every successful football club, there is often a team of influential figures working away from the spotlight. While supporters naturally focus on managers, players and transfer arrivals, much of the long-term success of a club is shaped by the people operating behind the scenes.
As Rangers continue navigating a significant period of change, attention has largely centred on the arrival of Derek McInnes, recruitment plans and preparations for another demanding campaign. However, the Ibrox hierarchy have also been quietly making important structural decisions away from the pitch.
The club’s leadership group has been focused on building a stronger football operation capable of delivering both immediate progress and sustainable success. With major decisions being made across several departments, Rangers are keen to ensure every area of the organisation is aligned moving forward.
One such move has now been confirmed.
Stig Inge Bjornebye has secured a permanent position at Rangers after being appointed as the club’s new performance director.
The former Norway international left-back initially joined the club in an advisory capacity during the second half of last season and impressed sufficiently to earn a long-term role within the organisation.
Having worked alongside existing staff members since December, Bjornebye will now continue to play a significant role behind the scenes after formally committing his future to the Ibrox side, according to The Rangers Review.
His responsibilities will include overseeing both the performance departments and academy operations at Auchenhowie.
David McCallum remains in interim control of the youth setup and is expected to continue in that position for the foreseeable future while reporting directly to Bjornebye.
A substantial portion of the former Liverpool defender’s attention is expected to be directed towards first-team affairs, particularly with recruitment remaining a major priority this summer.
Rangers have so far added only Lawrence Shankland to their squad, and new manager Derek McInnes will be eager to further shape the group ahead of the new campaign.
There is also plenty of work to be done in the coming weeks.
The Light Blues must prepare for important Europa League qualifying fixtures, while aspects of their pre-season programme are still being finalised as the new management structure settles into place.
Bjornebye brings considerable experience to the role, having previously held senior positions with both Rosenborg and Aarhus.
His appointment represents another key piece in Rangers’ ongoing efforts to strengthen their football operations as the club looks to build momentum under a new managerial era and challenge for major honours once again.
