“He’s a good guy”: Ipswich Town player lauded by teammate

Ipswich Town captain Dara O’Shea has been described as a ‘good guy’ by teammate Cedric Kipre.

Ipswich Town are aiming for promotion from the Championship this season. ITFC are in the play-offs along with Preston North End, Millwall and Hull City after 21 fixtures.

The Tractor Boys were relegated from the Premier League earlier this year after finishing in the bottom three along with Southampton and Leicester City. They are currently 13 points behind league leaders Coventry City and eight off Middlesbrough in 2nd.

Kipre has heaped praise on O’Shea and has said, as per a report by TWTD: “It’s great. He’s a good guy, we get on very well and we’ve played together before. It’s easy. He tries to motivate everybody before the games, after the games and at half-time. He’s a good captain.”

Ipswich Town were beaten 3-1 away at Leicester City last time out. Midfielder Jens Cajuste got their goal against the Foxes at the King Power Stadium but they weren’t able to get anything from the game and they slumped to a disappointing defeat.

Kieran McKenna‘s side will be looking to bounce back this weekend with a win. They face struggling Sheffield Wednesday at Portman Road.

Ipswich Town defensive situation

Ipswich Town signed Kipre in the summer to boost their defensive department. He gives ITFC more competition and depth at the back.

As well as skipper O’Shea, they also have Jacob Greaves at their disposal. The Tractor Boys have the joint-2nd best defensive record in the division behind Stoke City along with Coventry City, Middlesbrough and Preston North End.

Kipre, 29, is on loan in Suffolk from Stade de Reims. He is due to spend the whole campaign with McKenna’s men and has made 13 league appearances so far.

The Ivory Coast international, who has one cap under his belt, made the switch to France back in 2024. He has also had spells in the past with the likes of PSG, Leicester City, Motherwell, Wigan Athletic, West Brom and Cardiff City.

Will Ipswich Town get promoted to the Premier League?

Ipswich Town are in the top six but have a bit of catching up to do on Coventry City and Middlesbrough if they are to get into the top two. ITFC still have plenty of time.

The Tractor Boys have strong strength in depth but could do with finding some more consistency. They have the chance to bring in some new faces when the January transfer window opens up for business next month.

Their upcoming opponents Sheffield Wednesday have won only once this term and are in the drop zone with Oxford United and Norwich City. The Owls were beaten 3-0 against Derby County at home on Monday evening and they are struggling for results.

Ipswich Town then lock horns with Millwall away at The Den on Boxing Day. The Lions have been in solid form under Alex Neil recently but lost to Hull City in their last outing.
